Ep. 37 Marissa A. Crespo : Entertainment Lawyer

Marissa has cumulatively over 7 years of experience working in the business and legal fields of the entertainment industry, including working for SAG-AFTRA, one of the largest entertainment unions. She has assisted clients in negotiating co-production agreements with major networks, and assisted clients in the areas of trademark prosecution, copyright registration and enforcement, IP licensing deals, incorporation of production companies, talent management firms, and agencies. She has represented screenwriters, production companies, and management firms in a myriad of commercial deals, and has provided General Counsel services to several start-up companies.

Marissa also advises independent music artists, record labels and publishing companies on rights management and licensing strategies within the music industry, and assists in the registration of copyrights at the U.S. Copyright Office. She also has significant experience with registration of songwriters and publishing companies with performing rights organizations  (BMI and ASCAP).

Some of her representative matters include: assisting in the business deals of reality television docu-series projects pitched to WeTV and Bravo; securing the reversion of copyrights from Def Jam and record labels; and securing music clearances from songwriters and record labels for use of songs on television networks.
